Blind Side Edges Out New Moon at the Box Office

December 7, 2009 - 7:27 am No Comments

blindsidexAfter almost three weeks of box office superiority, Twilight: New Moon has been dislodge from the top post by the film release, Blind Side.

This is a feel-good movie starring Sandra Bullock in a role I’ve never seen her play so well before.

If there’s one movie that proves she is America’s Sweetheart, this is it. Her charm and good heart sees through her, with this film.

Blind Side is a beautiful story about loving without prejudices. It’s a film every member of the family will love, and it’s very fitting to the spirit of this season.

The movie has unexpectedly raked in some $129  Million from its opening day. It has been running in theaters for about three weeks now (alongside New Moon).

Watch the trailer and tell me if this doesn’t warm your heart:

The movie is based on a true story.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Lautner

November 28, 2009 - 12:50 pm 1 Comment

I can’t get over of Selena Gomez (Laughing out Loud), she’s so gorgeous and has this pleasing personality. I’d always watch her show in the disney channel, and I think she’s really a great actress. I also like her because she’s the ex-girlfriend of Taylor Lautner (Which I’m head over heels now because of “New Moon”) and now I’m blogging about them because I think they really look good together. Taylor and Selena was seen dating  on public, holding hands and cuddling each other. But these sweet moments suddenly just vanished into thin air after Taylor’s dad  told him that it’s not healthy for his career to be seen with his girlfriend. (But why? Selena is a great girl) Taylor’s dad said that he should focus first in his career and stop making Selana believe that she’s the one for him(Taylor). This is just a sad story, but I think Taylor did a right think by obeying his parents. I admire him for doing that, but I hope the closure was ok. Anyway on Selena’s part, I salute her for not making a big deal out of it. She handled it without so much drama and stuff, and that shows  her maturity. But while I was checking her tweets about the break up, I saw this one “A man who does not think for himself does not think at all.”  Well, she has a point, but she has to understand that it doesn’t mean Taylor can’t decide for himself, he just wanted to follow his parents because it’s the right thing to do. On the other hand, I hope Taylor was able to explain his side to Selena.

Selena admitted on one of her interviews that she’s really not into the Twilight fever. She said that it wasn’t because of her ex boyfriend, she just thinks that the movie is a cult and that she doesn’t believe on those stuff.

Taylor Lautner:I was never extremely confident

November 27, 2009 - 3:20 pm 1 Comment

Taylor Lautner surprised everyone when he showed his hot abs in the movie “New Moon”. He admitted in one of his interviews that he really had a hard time working out because he has to sacrifice a lot of things. People who were responsible for his super hot body made sure that he gets the right food and the right exercise. Taylor didn’t expect that his career in acting would be taken to another level. “I was never extremely confident,” the actor, now 17, tells the new issue of Rolling Stone. “Because I was an actor, when I was in school there was a little bullying going on. Not physical bullying but people making fun of what I do … I just had to tell myself I can’t let this get to me. This is what love to do. And I’m going to continue to do it.” That’s the spirit Taylor! We all need to be motivated like him. Most of the people I know, they’d rather give up the fight because they think it’s really not worth fighting for. But we all have to know that we get success if we really persevere. (Just like what Taylor did)

Taylor also admitted that he did’nt expect that twilight will be a blockbuster movie. “Nobody knew what Twilight was going to be,” he says. “Nobody. We thought we were making it just for passionate fans of the book. People just kept telling Us, ‘Oh, yeah, the movie is going to do so good.’ And we were like, ‘All right, whatever. We’ll see.’ But when the movie came out, I was just blown away. That’s when I realized, ‘Boy, what am I getting myself into?’”  Honestly, I wasn’t really expecting that Twilight would turn out really good. But it did, then a lot of girls got really hooked on it. It has been a talk of the town for months and now that they’ve shown New Moon, people started going crazy again especially when they saw Taylor Lautner transformed.

Unfortunately, this hottie is currently dating the famous singer Taylor Swift (I envy her!) so sorry for all those “Jacob fanatics”. Rolling stone interview -while shooting the the 2010 ensemble romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, he says, “We got along great. We instantly clicked. And she’s — she’s an amazing girl. Aside from being beautiful, she’s extremely funny, charismatic and fun to be around, so we definitely got along. We’re close.” I hope they’re closeness doesn’t lead them to another level (evil laugh) of relationship because I really like Selena Gomez for Lautner! They really look cute together and I think Selena is a sweet girl. You see I’m not being biased, I just think Taylor Swift looks mature and there’s no romantic spark between her and Lautner.

Whatever Taylor Lautner’s status is, I really think he deserves to get an award for being so damn hot.

Beastly’s Short Trailer

November 27, 2009 - 9:16 am 1 Comment

Here’s a 23 second trailer of the upcoming movie, Beastly, which stars High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens. It’s only a very short clip and it’s very hard to get an idea of what the movie is about. But from what I know, this film is very much right up the alley of New Moon and Twilight. It’s the kind of movie tweens and teens are sure to like, granting it also stars some of the younger generations hottest stars:

Beastly is inspired and adapted from Beauty and The Beast . Not the Disney animated version, but the Ron Perlman version. It also stars Alex Pettyfer, Mary Kate Olsen, Neil Patrick Harris and Lisa Gay Hamilton. The film is set to open July 30, 2010.

‘New Moon’ Eclipses ‘Twilight’ at Fandango

November 12, 2009 - 1:49 pm 1 Comment

2009 New MoonNew Moon opens at midnight one week from tonight, but the film has already outsold its predecessor, Twilight, in total advance ticket sales on Fandango, the nation’s leading movie ticketing destination. The new movie currently represents 75% of the site’s ticket sales.

Although thousands of next Thursday night’s midnight showtimes are sold-out across the country (from Anchorage, Alaska to Winter Park, Florida), tickets are still available, while new showtimes are added regularly to keep up with the demand.

Currently, New Moon ranks as the #4 top advance ticket-seller in Fandango history, toppling Twilight which previously held the spot.

The Top 5 Advance Ticket-Sellers on Fandango (as of November 12, 2009) are as follows:

  • Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005)
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
  • The Dark Knight (2008)
  • New Moon (2009)
  • Twilight (2008)

Kristen Stewart- New Moon

November 7, 2009 - 3:48 pm 1 Comment
Kristen Stewart also known as “Bella Swan” of the movie “twilight” has been an icon of young kids in this generation. A lot of die-hard fans of this movie wish that they were in her position and I had to admit that I’m one of them. After watching twilight, I can’t stop thinking about the chemistry between Kristen and Robert. They really look good together and I think they’ll be an adorable couple. The whole movie really brought out my mushy side. Honestly, Kirsten wasn’t the actress I was expecting to potray Bella’s character. I was thinking of other well-known actress, but infairness to Kristen, she showed everybody that she’s the right one for this movie. I like her “boyish” side because it makes her look cool and simple. Kristen said on one of her interviews that she really has to work really hard because of the expectations of the people. She has to read all the books of twilight so that she can internalized her character.  She enjoys taping with her co-actors that’s why a lot of people are really curious which one (Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner)she really likes. Too bad for all those “Kristen and Edward’s” die-hard fans, because Kristen has a boyfriend. Though recently I heard that Kristen has been having problems with her guy. People tried to ask her about this boyfriend issue but Kristen decided not to make a big deal out of it. This November they’re going to show “New Moon” on the big screen. The trailer of this upcoming movie has made twilight fans go crazy. I’m just hoping “New Moon” is better than the first one to  avoid frustrations from all the twilight fanatic.

More Confessions of a Closet Fangirl, or TwiCon Part 2

August 4, 2009 - 5:01 pm 2 Comments

When we last heard from Robin, she was whistling at a 100 Monkeys concert.  Let’s see what happened next…

<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { color: #0000ff } –>

Saturday was the big celebrity meet and greet at TwiCon, and my only chance to get a glimpse of anyone else starring in the upcoming sequel to twilight, new moon. Along with Jackson, Peter Facinelli (Carlisle), Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Alex Meraz (Paul), Billy Burke (Charlie), and Christian Serratos (Angela) attended the Con. As I said, I didn’t get a ticket to any of the signing/photo events, so I didn’t hold out a lot of hope.

The stories started filtering out from the sessions, though, and we all giggled hearing them. Ninapolitan, another fanfiction author, was greeted by Peter with a kiss on the cheek because she (as a devoted Carlisle fan) helped draw hundreds to follow him on twitter (ed note:  we helped with this, SLT fans!) – and he recognized her name! I don’t think she’s washed that cheek since, and I don’t blame her. Another friend, texbelle, did run into Peter on an elevator, and he didn’t even hesitate when she asked to take his picture. Very cool. Okay, I was getting jealous.

Confession time. I love Carlisle’s character from the books, and when I heard how much research Peter Facinelli did to get into the roll in the first movie, I was extremely impressed. He even did an interview in character (on the twilightMoms website if I’m remembering right), and I thought that was fantastic. Meeting him would have been great. But I didn’t go and hang out at the elevators, but another friend, vjgm, did see Kellan there, too. (She caught him again at the airport on Sunday. She’s just a Kellan magnet! No pics, though.)

I did manage to catch the last half of the Celebrity Q&A. Again, it was Peter who stole the show, explaining how he practiced for the scene where he stitched up Bella’s arm by sewing pieces of raw chicken together. He made us all laugh, but I’m sure it was part of his serious prep for the scene. From what Peter said, his stitchery didn’t impress Kristen. 8-)

My heart goes out to Alex Meraz. When he fielded a question, he was greeted by screams of “take off your shirt!” The poor guy turned red – I’m sure he’s got nothing to be embarrassed about, but he’s an actor, not a pin-up. Peter made him a deal – if Alex took off his shirt, Peter would take off his shoes – and Alex got even redder. Welcome to the world of twilight, Alex! Thankfully the questions went on, and Alex remained fully clothed (darn it).

The panel became the Jackson and Peter show. They bantered about how, to prep for the scene where Jasper viciously attacks Bella, Jackson had asked Peter for advice. Peter taught him the “birthday technique.”

“Just imagine it’s your birthday and no one knows,” Jackson explained. “Now, add another layer. Imagine it’s your birthday and everyone knows, but isn’t doing anything.” We’re all laughing by now at the faces he’s making – this clearly was a long-running joke. “Now, add another layer. Imagine that it’s your birthday, everyone knows, and they’re giving your cake to her [Bella].”

When I watch the trailer now, all I can hear is Jackson explaining how he’s mad that Bella’s getting his cake, and it cracks me up. By the way – the fact that the scene happens to have a cake in it, is purely coincidence, which makes it an even funnier story.

Toward the end of the question period, Kellan (who I wish I’d heard more from) threw a paper airplane out into the audience. Of course that was followed by a round of screaming as the lucky girl caught what I heard was a drawing of a teddy bear. I assume it was signed, too. But this initiated kind of an airplane war up on the stage. Both Billy and Christian made their own airplanes, but theirs didn’t fly past the security barricades and received a concerted “Aw” from the audience.

Peter (did I mention that he’s my fave?) then stood up with his own paper airplane high over his shoulder. Instead of throwing it, he jumped off the stage and ran through the crowd to the very back and handed it to a girl in the back row! And didn’t get mobbed! By the time he ran back up to the front, he was panting and making promises to get into the gym, but no one could hear him by then over the roar of the crowd.

Peter fielded a question about comparing Carlisle to a new roll he’s playing: Coop on Nurse Jackie. The only commonality between the characters is that they are doctors. I don’t remember all the details, but Coop could only be Carlisle’s evil brother – you can check out a bit of the pilot for Nurse Jackie HERE.

The Q&A ended after that, and the cast headed into the gauntlet that was the autograph session. I headed back to my hotel…I can only imagine how exhausted they were when their day finally ended. The lines were long – the last I heard there were still people in line waiting…and the Con ended Sunday. No, it wasn’t quite that bad, but I know it went on for hours and hours.

The Q&A was the highlight of the weekend for me. Seeing the actors come out and give it all for the fans was excellent. I was already planning to be at the midnight showing of new moon on November 20th, but if I go again on the 21st, it’ll be because of Peter and Jackson.

And yes, I screamed when Peter ran toward me down the aisle. OMG! HE WAS ONLY 30 FEET AWAY!!!!

But don’t tell anyone, kay?

Howard to Replace Lefevre in 3rd Twilight Sequel

July 30, 2009 - 4:06 pm 2 Comments

According to Summit Entertainment, Rachelle Lefevre has scheduling conflicts that won’t allow her to appear in the 3rd installment of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse.  Lefevre has played the role of Victoria, the wicked vampire stalking Bella, for Twilight and New Moon, but now will be replaced by the bigger name Bryce Dallas Howard.

Now, I’m not an agent, but it seems very unlikely to me that a small time actress, who got the biggest break of her career in this series, would suddenly come up with “scheduling conflicts.”  And if you ask Lefevre, my instincts are on the money.  In a statement released yeseterday, Lefevre stated:

“I was stunned.  I was fully committed to the Twilight saga.  I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me…I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it.  Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience.”

Lefevre does admit that she has a role in another film, Barney’s Version,  but she insists that this film has a very minor overlap with the filming of Eclipse, and that it never occurred to her that there would be any conflict.  “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap.”

Summit wasn’t too thrilled with that statement, and promptly issued an official response.

Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.

If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June.  Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography.  This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap.  It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

You’d think that after all the uproar over replacing Taylor Lautner, Summit would have learned not to screw with fan loyalty.  And fans are not happy about this.  They point out that everyone knew about Lefevre’s role in Barney’s Version, because it was being reported in the trades, so how could Summit NOT know about it?

And does it strike anyone else as just a little suspicious that they could get a star the caliber of Bryce Dallas Howard at a moment’s notice?  I mean, it’s the end of July and she just happens to have August, September and October free for an “unexpected” role with an immediate 3-month shoot?

Here’s what I think.  I think that Summit was so pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback they got when they cast Dakota Fanning as Jane that they thought they’d see if they could pull it off again.  But since everything was cast, they had to replace someone.  They must have been in talks with Howard for months–she’s too big a name to just step into a role like this without months of negotiations. When Lefevre informed them of her little tiny scheduling overlap, they saw a chance to push her out without looking like bad guys–I mean, who could get upset over a scheduling conflict, right?  But Lefevre didn’t go along with their plan, and now they DO look like bad guys.

Twilight fans are furious, but we all know they (ahem, we) will still go see this movie.  Eclipse is the best book in the series, and far and away the fan favorite.  And who doesn’t want to see Edward rip Victoria to shreds?  Unfortunately, when Rob Pattinson takes her apart in this movie, the cheers will be very personal.  We’ll go see it, but there’s nothing Bryce Dallas Howard can do now to make fans approve of her in this role.  And I wouldn’t be surprised to see fans boycott her in the future, either.  That would be only marginally useful; the one we should be boycotting is Summit Studios.  However, since they produce the Twilight films, I don’t think that’s going to happen.

The New Moon Movie website is keeping a New Moon blog going, which is actually pretty cool.  Of course, that means lots off pics of Rob wherever they manage to accost him with a camera (it’s not the New Moon people doing the accosting; they just post the pics).

Rob has gotten a rush of new work thanks in part to his success and newly high profile from the Twilight movie.  Right now he’s filming a movie called Remember Me, and today he’s in Central Park in New York with his co-star Emilie de Ravin.  In case you don’t know, Emilie is the girl he’s rumored to be with when he’s not rumored to be with Kristen Stewart.  Because of course, all young actors must be sleeping with their colleagues.

So, New Yorkers, you’re probably used to this, but if you get by Central Park today, wave at Rob for me, okay?

Taylor and Selena Break Up?

June 10, 2009 - 1:35 am No Comments

If you ask me, this is a made-up story.  I don’t know that Taylor Lautner (of twilight and New moon, in case you live in a cave) and Selena Gomez (of Wiizards of Waverly Place, in case you don’t have kids ages 9-12) were ever really dating; nobody ever had more than rumors to support that speculation.  Not that it wouldn’ t have been great–they’d be utterly adorable together.

But if you look at some of the articles that are “reporting” this story, they keep quoting these two as saying things like, “She’s a great girl,” and “We’re good friends.”  That was before and after this break-up rumor.

Nevertheless, Gomez does say she’s single.  And last I heard, Lautner was, too (though how that could be is beyond me).  So, if they broke up, I hope they’re both okay and not too heartbroken.  I’m sure there are lots of guys and gals ready and willing to step in and help them feel better.
