Dr. Horrible Headed To Film Feature

I’m a huge Joss Whedon fan and I was very much entertained when he did Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and got Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion to star in them. The internet movie was only less than an hour long but it spanned such a huge following among Whedonite cultist that a feature film rumor doesn’t seem like a bad idea. I’d watch one, if it did happen. But is it going to happen?

There’s word of it being in development and when MTV talked to Neil Patrick Harris recently, the actor has apparently said, “Apparently they’re making a Dr. Horrible sequel, a feature film I hope… I hope they cast me in it… We’ll see. I don’t know what scale, they’re talking all options, because they made the first Dr. Horrible in five days on no budget at all… You don’t want to make the feature film be an $80 million giant movie, because it defeats the purpose of what the first film was made to be, but then again you don’t want it to be so low brow that it’s not worth paying money to see as a movie.”

The actors are now all working out a schedule so that they can begin with filming the scenes. No word yet on what studio is going to back this project up.

Screen shot 2010-03-05 at 11.33.19 AMNeil Patrick Harris has quite had a success reviving his career on television. Now, he’s off to do more movies, top billing in the live action remake of the Smurfs.

Kids of the 80’s know this cartoon series very well. The Smurfs was very popular back then. They were a band of blue dwarfish characters.

The movie is said to be a mixture of live action as well as animation and filmmaker Raha Gosnell who did Scooby-Doo back in the early 2000 is set to direct it.

Filming will start in April, as Harris’ TV show, How I Met Your Mother is set to go on hiatus for the summer.

Twittering his sentiments about being chosen to play lead in the Smurf movie, Harris said: “I’ll do my smurfiest to represent well. Smurfs are rad.”

Beastly’s Short Trailer

November 27, 2009 - 9:16 am 1 Comment

Here’s a 23 second trailer of the upcoming movie, Beastly, which stars High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens. It’s only a very short clip and it’s very hard to get an idea of what the movie is about. But from what I know, this film is very much right up the alley of New Moon and Twilight. It’s the kind of movie tweens and teens are sure to like, granting it also stars some of the younger generations hottest stars:

Beastly is inspired and adapted from Beauty and The Beast . Not the Disney animated version, but the Ron Perlman version. It also stars Alex Pettyfer, Mary Kate Olsen, Neil Patrick Harris and Lisa Gay Hamilton. The film is set to open July 30, 2010.
