This story has been going on for quite a while, but it seems to be drawing to close. A Malawi Supreme Court Judge has approved Madonna’s application to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James.
The problem had to do with a residency law that said that to adopt a Malawian child, you have to live in Malawi for 18-24 months. The Malawian government didn’t enforce that law with Madonna’s other Malawian child, David, but for some reason in this case it decided to crack down. The case went to the Supreme Court, where the judge ruled that it was an “old law,” and that Mercy should be with Madonna.
Apparently things will move pretty fast now. The little girl’s papers and passport will be prepared over the weekend, and Madonna should be able to take her home by the middle of next week.
Madonna released a statement through her rep, saying, “I am extremely grateful for the Supreme Court’s ruling on my application to adopt Mercy James.”
I’m glad they approved this. I’m not a fan of Madonnna, but if I had her kind of money, I’d adopt more kids. I like to see people with virtually unlimited resources like Madonna and the Jolie-Pitts using them to increase love and nurture in the world.
One would think that New Moon, the highly anticipated sequel to Twilight, would be silently producing the field behind closed doors. Unfortunately that is not the case as reported over at the HD Room.
In fact, the post even contained some pictures of Robert Pattinson going topless on the set.
The pics are likely from a pivotal scene during the film’s closing moments in which Edward strips off his shirt and attempts to commit suicide by sunlight. Bella, whose love fears not melting skin, reunites with and saves the sad vampire leading to a great big smooch.

It’s Friday, and it’s been a long week…so I went looking for some Twilight love. I found what is possibly the happiest information I’ve come across since we learned that Taylor Lautner will still be playing Jacob.
Hugh Jackman and Robert Pattinson will be making a movie together.

Seriously, I could end the post right there, couldn’t I?
But it gets even better. This is an Old West film in which Rachel Weisz plays a widow, and Rob’s mom, whose kids get kidnapped (I don’t know if that includes Rob; he seems a little old at 23), and Hugh Jackman has to help her find them. Or something like that. There really aren’t many more details than that out there.
We do know, however, that it was written and is being directed by Madeline Stowe, so that could be interesting. She’s been sitting on it since the early 90’s, but finally thinks the time is right. With these three names on it, chances are she’s right.
