Guess the vampire craze will not stop or die down (unless you beat that craze with a stake in its heart?). Even Hollywood box office king, Will Smith, is getting on the bandwagon. Apart from working on Men In Black 3, he is set to also do a The Legend of Cain and is even producing the said movie.

The story of Cain is based on the Bible with Will Smith playing the title role of Cain, the world’s first original “bad boy” as the press releases are saying. But since this movie will be an updated version, the story will contain a lot of twists and will, in fact, have vampires among the characters.

There has been no director picked for the film yet and no studio has been tapped to tie up with Will Smith’s production company, Overbook Entertainment. The company, meanwhile, is still enjoying reaps and reaps of box office success brought by the remake of Karate Kid.

Oprah Had An Affair With John Tesh?

April 12, 2010 - 9:45 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-04-12 at 10.56.24 AMI don’t know how much shock value this news is for you, considering the relationship happened in the 70’s and the two main characters are no longer that relevant in these times in my opinion. But writer, Kitty Kelly, who was written other unauthorized biographies of the stars, has revealed in her latest book that Oprah Winfrey and John Tesh did have an affair when the media personality giant was barely out of her teen years.

She was apparently living in with Entertainment Tonight’s John Tesh back then and both were struggling in Nashville. But the manner in which they broke up was really something. Apparently, because John Tesh was pressured by the interracial relationship, he literally bolted in the middle of the night and left a young Oprah.

According to the writer’s source: “He said one night he looked down and saw his white body next to her black body and couldn’t take it anymore. “He walked out in the middle of the night. … He told me he later felt very guilty about it.”

Meanwhile, Oprah’s people are mum about this book and would rather not make a comment. The explosive story, which is all about Oprah, should be released this Tuesday, and is available at Amazon.

The only time that Oprah admitted to even dating Tesh was when he guested on her 10th anniversary show and said that they shared one platonic dinner together.

Tesh, now himself an accomplished broadcaster, is married to Connie Selleca while Oprah has a lifetime partner in Steadman Graham.

A Watchmen Sequel?

People loved the comics Watchmen, made by Alan Moore. Even then producers also made it grow to life by creating a movie. But will people be enticed to watch the sequel?

Before that happens, here’s a small summary of the movie Watchmen.

Watchmen take place on an alternate history Earth where superheroes emerged in the 1940s and 1960s, helping the United States to win the Vietnam War. The country is edging closer to a nuclear war with the Soviet Union, freelance costumed vigilantes have been outlawed and most costumed superheroes are in retirement or working for the government. The story focuses on the personal development and struggles of the protagonists as an investigation into the murder of a government sponsored superhero pulls them out of retirement.

Despite DC’s very public falling out with the irascible Moore, Dc is still thinking the unthinkable. They have been brainstorming on creating a franchise of Alan Moore’s comics, which has been disregarded for the last twenty years. A lot of arguments have been made, and head of DC seems immovable that Watchmen, at least in print form, was not to be messed with. But According to DC’s senior vice president Dan Didio, sequels, comic prequels and spin off are his visions.

Even Dave Gibbons, original Watchmen artist, who was very willing with the movie was still cynic. So with all the rumors and speculations on hand today, will there ever be a Watchmen sequel.

40 Handsomest Men in Hollywood

August 21, 2009 - 2:46 pm 3 Comments

Well, we did the ladies, so now it’s time to do the gentlemen.  Whoo hoo!  Like before, I’ll divide them up into Absolutely!  Who the heck is he? and Him?  And as before, the list is Premiere’s, but the comments are mine.

Absolutely!

Robert Pattinson.  For all his Twilight yumminess, this young man does not always photograph well.  Still, he’s got this kind of melancoly intensity about him that my caretaking side can’t resist.  Come to mama, sweetie!

Hugh Jackman.  Masculine, funny, and devoted to his wife and family.  Could anything be sexier?

Christian Bale.  Completely intense, therefore totally sexy.  However, the temper tantrum thing is a bit of a turnoff.

Orlando Bloom.  So I’ve still got a thing for Legolas.  So sue me.

Gerard Butler.  Sure, he’s a Hugh Jackman clone, but I love Hgh Jackman, so I say more is better.

Zac Efron.  Too young…he’s too young…too young…

Denzel Washington.  How can one man be so intense and so laid back at the same time?  My favorite is Crimson Tide, when he wears the Navy uniform.

Johnny Depp.  He’s the most chameleonic actor out there, and if he’s being human, he’s still extremely attractive.  Some of us have loved him for 25 years.

Eric Bana.  Oh, yes.

Aaron Eckhart.  I have always loved him.  I loved him before you did.  I loved him before YOU even knew who he was.

Idris Elba.  There’s just something about this guy…strong, quiet, funny…mmmm.

Daniel Craig.  I debated on where he should go on my list, but then I remembered seeing pics of him shirtless.  That, combined with those bright blue eyes, catapulted him onto my personal A-list.

Ewan McGregor!  YES!!  I absolutely love him, and I think he’s one of the most underappreciated (yet most regularly working) actors in the business.  The blue eyes, the crooked smile, the Scottish accent…sigh.  And the man can do ANYTHING.  Comedy, drama, action, anything.

Who the heck is he?

Josh Duhamel.  His big career move is apparently Transformers.  ‘Nuff said.

Channing Tatum.  He does have a cool name, but other than that he seems to be a clone of older, better, sexier actors.

Joseph Gordon Levitt.  Cute…but that’s all.

Jay Hernandez.  No idea who this person is.

Emile Hirsch.  I knew the name, now I know the face…not impressed.

Chris Messina.  *shrug*

Tyrese Gibson.  Not that I don’t appreciate the shirtless pic…

Gael Garcia Bernal.  I don’t know his work very well, but from the pic he looks like a Latino Jake Gyllenhall.

Josh Lucas.  Not sure who he is, but not all that impressed with the pics.

Milo Ventimiglia.  Dark, brooding, Italian…he has possibilities.  I’ll keep my eye on him.

Him?

James Franco.  I like him as an actor, but the cheekbones are a little too much.  And actually, I don’t always like him as an actor, so…

Bradley Cooper.  Yeah, he’s handsome.  And he and Renee are a cute couple.  But he elicits nothing more than a shrug from me.

Ryan Reynolds.  Meh…

Jake Gyllenhall.  Not that he can’t be sexy in the right role…I like him, but I don’t find him attractive.

James Marsden.  Too pretty.

Brad Pitt.  Good actor, but I’m sick to death of him.

Jamie Foxx.  Excellent actor, but that’s as far as my appreciation extends.  And I don’t like that “Blame it on the Alcohol” song.

Chris Pine.  I think I’ve just seen him in too many bad movies.  He always seemed like a poor girl’s Rob Lowe to me.

Dwayne Johnson.  He’s becoming a good comedic actor, but he still doesn’t do it for me.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers.  He does have a sort of bohemian half-starved yumminess, but it’s not enough to make my personal A-list.

Robert Downey, Jr.  I love him as an actor and admire  him for his personal victories.  But I don’t think he’s all that hot.

Leonardo Di Caprio.  I think he’s a better actor than he’s given credit for, but he just doesn’t do it for me.

Paul Rudd.  Nice guy, but…

Ryan Gosling.  This is another actor I’ve been following since he was very young, but not for his looks.

Dennis Quaid.  What, is the token old guy on the list?

Ed Burns.  Meh…

George Clooney.  It just depends.  Sometimes he hits my A-list, sometimes not.

So, that’s 40.  Did they miss anyone?  Heck, yeah!  How about Laurence Fishburn?  Seriously, is there a sexier character than Morpheus anywhere in the world?  Or Taylor Lautner?  Brendan Fraser?  Daniel Radcliffe?  WILL SMITH, for goodness sake!  Bill Paxton!  Peter Facinelli!  Viggo Mortensen!  Justin Timberlake, Billy Burke, Jamie Bamber, Ioan Gruffud, Karl Urban, Harrison Ford…yeah, they missed a LOT!

But I guess they could only do 40…

Disney Developing New Pay Website

July 23, 2009 - 4:14 am 4 Comments

Disney already runs two websites that charge a monthly subscription fee:  Club Penguin and Pixie Hollow.  I don’t know how successful those enterprises are–though my son seems quite content with the free version of Club Penguin.  I don’t personally know anyone who would pay for those activities when there are so many free sites with great games out there.

But now Disney is planning a new website, which will be expanded from the kids-only interests that its earlier two focus on.  Disney CEO Bob Iger recently announced that the new subscription service would offer movies, TV shows, games, and other valuable services that viewers would find worthwhile enough to pay for.

Iger and Disney join a large community of entertainment entities who are watching their profits go online.   It’s hard to make money online, but people are going there all the time–in some cases far more than they are turning to traditional media for their entertainment.

For example, we don’t have TV in our household, so Disney is missing out on what we would pay in cable subscriptions from the Disney channel.  However, we do watch our favorite shows online, so my kids are still getting their fix of Hannah Montana andThe Wizards of Waverly Place.  Apparently Disney has decide that’s not going to work for them.

Disney is leading the movement of entertainment groups who feel that people will pay for entertainment on the web.  And sometimes that’s the case.  We will, for example, pay Netflix a monthly fee to watch movies online and we’ll pay i-tunes a montly fee to have our favorite songs available for download.

But I watch The Office online every week during the regular season–should I have to pay a fee to get my episode?  Isn’t that why there are so many advertisements for me to sit through?  And NBC offers me character blogs, downloads, contests, games, and extra, completely free webisodes featuring supporting players that the paying cable customers never get to see.

So, I’m skeptical whether this new venture of Disney’s will work.  It seems to me that as long as there’s good free stuff out there, there’s no reason to pay for it from someone else.
