Elizabeth Banks to Play Tinkerbell

July 16, 2010 - 4:57 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-07-16 at 1.57.21 PM Lots of fairy tale stories getting live action treatment, and the latest comes from this unconfirmed report that Elizabeth Banks is going to play the role of Tinkerbell in this McG directed live-action version. With that director on board, you can bet it’s going to be a smorgasbord of eye-candy.

The said film is said to be an “uncanny version” of the fantasy story and that Tinkerbell will be more mischievous than ever.

I’m thrilled to see Banks in the role as well as she is someone who does have this ability to play naughty and nice at the same time.

There is no other word yet on what else and who else will take part in the film, but I’m betting it’s going to be light, campy and really fun!

Miley Cyrus To Film Wake

June 18, 2010 - 9:11 am No Comments

miley-cyrus-pictureTeen star Miley Cyrus is prepared to go a different direction for her career. She is ready to leave her clean-cut Disney image for a darker, more mature image, as she has signed to do the movie, “Wake”. The film is a paranormal thriller, and one of the first few projects the teen star has taken since announcing that she will be concentrating on making movies until next year.

Wake is based on a novel written by Lisa McMann, which is about a teenager who gets into dreams by other people and relives their nightmares.

The book is actually a trilogy, and the film producers are interested in getting the film rights for the rest of it, with Miley in the project.

Can the Disney Princess shake her Hanna Montana image?

Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential

April 30, 2010 - 8:40 am No Comments

1272558510492 For 2010, Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential list includes a lot of trendsetters, leaders and thinkers who have been chosen for the impact and innovation they have created in the world.

The list includes a lot of superstars from showbiz, including Pop Icon, Lady Gaga, ousted Tonight Show Host, Conan O’ Brien, Teen sweethearts Robert Pattinson and Taylor Swift, as well as Glee actress Lea Michele. In the world of Politics, President Obama leads the pack.

Other celebrities wrote their testimonies for these chosen individuals, and for Lady Gaga, it was Cyndi Lauper who sort of paid her tribute. She writes:

“I first heard the name Lady Gaga through a mutual friend. He couldn’t stop talking about her. Then I heard her music, and I thought, ‘Wow, I love this kid. When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I’m inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, ‘How awesome.’ Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn’t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture,”

George Lopez, meanwhile, wrote the piece on Conan O’ Brien, saying — “Conan’s tenacity and wit have been an inspiration to me on my own late-night show. I’m happy and proud that we’ll be playing on the same team when he comes to basic cable. Welcome back to TV, Conan. I’ve got a good feeling about this. If there’s anything people love more than a happy ending, it’s a big comeback.” The talk show host is going to have his new show on TBS this September, George Lopez will follow his time slot.

You can get the issue now, it’s out at newsstands.

Not that he had to beg for it….

Antonio Banderas has confirmed that his character from Shrek, Puss In Boots, is getting his own spin-off movie. The planned project will also star Salma Hayek and Zach Galifianakis and will be traced back to the cat’s childhood years.

Banderas said — “I already did the first recordings and it’s going to be called ‘Puss in Boots’ — it starts when he was very little. He was in an orphanage when he first discovered the effect he has on people – that’s when he starts being intelligent.”

His character should appear this summer on the very last Shrek film.

Charlie Sheen to Leave Two And A Half Men

April 5, 2010 - 8:47 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-04-04 at 2.51.38 PMBecause of all his troubles, Charlie Sheen is reportedly quitting his television program, Two and A Half Men, which he leads together with Jon Cryer. The actor was sent to rehab following a domestic dispute with his wife Brooke Mueller. The real life episode didn’t just happen that first time as the couple was apparently constantly in friction.

Charlie Sheen was supposed to return to work this week, but has said he is quitting the show altogether. Studio bosses at CBS, where the show is airing and is in fact rating really well (in spite of the fact that I personally do not know a lot of people watching this!), are not commenting on whether or not this is true. But sources say, Sheen’s contract will eventually allow him to part ways. In short, he is no longer obligated after his contract ends and it will end soon.
