August 20, 2010 - 10:03 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-08-20 at 5.40.57 PMOrlando Bloom has recently married his long time girlfriend, Miranda Kerr last month and barely after that, the Pirates of the Caribbean star has announced his new wife is carrying their baby.

Miranda Kerr is apparently four months on the way and has announced this on the September issue of Vogue Magazine to be released in Spain.

Mrs. Bloom said: “I remember on one occasion in the early days [of my pregnancy] when it was still too soon to say anything, and I had a dreadful time at one job.”

The Victoria’s Secret model is currently experiencing morning sickness.

News of the pregnancy came so sudden, as is the news of the couple’s wedding and the engagement a month before that.

The couple have been together since 2007 and we wish them a lifetime of bliss.

Screen shot 2010-08-09 at 5.54.37 PM Emma Thompson, the Oscar Award winning actress has stated over the weekend that she plans on taking a break from acting next year. She admits she is experiencing a mild case of depression, which is not uncommon for people in the business.

She says, “I find the job I do emotionally very demanding. I suffer from occasional mild depression, which I think is a very common thing — it’s fantastically common in my country and probably in yours, too — and it’s a very much hidden thing people don’t talk about. I think it should be discussed.”

The actress plans to be active in fundraisers as well as travel with her family during her sabbatical.

Emma Thompson has won an Oscar for Howard’s End in 1992 and another one in 1996 for Sense and Sensibility.

Rihanna’s Acting Debut

Screen shot 2010-07-28 at 10.53.13 AMPop star Rihanna is now moving into new terrority by trying her luck with acting on a film. She is set to star in Peter Berg’s adaptation of the board game, “Battleship”. The movie has already enlisted TV hotties like Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard for the lead roles.

The film is set in the sea and is about battling for the planet, against far superior forces. The movie is intended for a summer 2012 release.

While Rihanna did appear in the movie “Bring It On: All or Nothing” in 2006 (direct to video release), as well as had a brief role in “Mama Black Widow” (which never really made it past production), Battleship will be the very first movie that will be running on the big screen.

Academy Award winner Halle Berry is set to star in the chick flick, “Shoe Addicts Anonymous”. The film is going to include more casts as the production rolls in. But this will basically be about women of different backgrounds who wear the same size of shoes and can’t get enough of it. Thus, they form a support group to help deal with their shoe shopping addiction and forges bond with each other.

This is so refreshing to see Berry in a light film. I can’t remember where I last saw her but this movie will, I think, help her remain relevant, especially with today’s new breed of women.

There director of the film, plus Halle’s co-stars will be named in the succeeding weeks.

The LA Times is reporting that Stanley Tucci plans to bring together academy award winning actress, Meryl Streep and Emmy winning actress Tina Fey in a movie together. Although still in the early stages of development, I am quite looking forward to this pairing. These are two of the most terrific actresses we have on Hollywood right now and to have them work together is really a genius idea.

The film is going to be entitled Mommy and Me and it is expected to be a mother-daughter dramedy with Tucci standing behind the camera. There is no script nor other details about the movie yet but studios will be most likely scrambling to buy this one. The cast alone is already a goldmine, don’t you think?
