Cruise and McAvoy vie for same role in At Mountains of Madness

September 3, 2010 - 2:03 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-09-03 at 9.57.54 AMAt Mountains of Madness is a film based on a novel by HP Lovecraft. It’s about a geologist who goes on an expedition in Antartica where he discovers ruins and big secrets. The film is going to be produced by James Cameron, who is considering James McAvoy to play the role of William Dyer, the professor. Only, the rest of the filmmakers, led by its director, Guillermo del Torro, also wants Tom Cruise to play the role.

It’s going to be hard to pick as both actors fit the character. The director plans to start shooting by spring of next year, and from the way things are going, James McAvoy appears to have a rather busy schedule already and personally, I don’t trust Tom Cruise’s box office pull.

Who would you pick?

THe actor will play boyfriend to the mother of one of the returning characters, Sean Anderson, who still be played by Josh Hutcherson. The sequel’s story takes place on a trip to a mystical island to find Johnson’s character’s grandfather.

Michael Douglas Battling Throat Cancer

September 2, 2010 - 2:22 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-09-02 at 10.11.55 AMAppearing on Dave Letterman’s talk show the other night to promote his latest movie, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”, Michael Douglas confessed that he has throat cancer. He learned of the diagnosis only three weeks ago, and the doctors say the cancer is Stage 4. Those who aren’t familiar with this should know that Stage 4 is the worst kind, with the cancer already spreading to other parts of the body. Fortunately for Michael, the cancer is still just above the neck and the prognosis is apparently positive. He says he has 80% of healing from this disease.

Douglas, who is turning 66 this month, says that his throat was bothering him all summer and despite his doctors not finding anything, another doctor took his biopsy where it was revealed that his condition was cancer. His biggest worry right now, he says, is the cancer spreading.

The actor confessed that his lifestyle of drinking booze has caused his disease to accelerate. He has gone to his first round of radiation and therapy where he admits to Dave: “It hurts, it comes and goes in waves. It knocks you out really hard.”

We wish the actor a quick recovery!

Bradd Pitt to Star in Red Dead Redemption?

August 27, 2010 - 3:42 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-08-27 at 11.34.03 AM Rumors are circulating about Brad Pitt’s next project. He’s said to be the choice to play the lead in the Red Dead Redemption, a movie that is inspired from the video game carrying the same name. The game is played for Playstation 3 consoles.

The game has quite a strong following among video enthusiasts and the movie project has been in the drawing boards for awhile now, apparently. The rumor is from ShowbizSpy.

If you are unfamiliar with the game series, as I am, here’s a plot summary:

In the year 1911, John Marston, a retired outlaw formerly of a gang led by Dutch van der Linde, is taken away from his wife Abigail and his son Jack by government agents. The agents tell Marston that his family will be safely returned to him if he hunts down the remaining lead members of his former gang. Left with no choice, Marston travels to the territory of New Austin to capture or kill one of his old friends, Bill Williamson, who now runs his own gang of bandits out of Fort Mercer. Marston confronts Williamson at the fort, only to be shot and left for dead outside the fort. A rancher, Bonnie MacFarlane, finds him wounded, and brings him to a doctor to be treated.

After recovering from his wounds several days later, Marston begins repaying the MacFarlanes for their help. At the same time, he recruits help for a plan to attack Fort Mercer. Along with U.S Marshal Leigh Johnson of Armadillo, con man Nigel West Dickens, grave robber Seth Briars and drunken arms dealer Irish, Marston uses a Trojan Horse strategy to breach the fort and massacre Williamson’s gang, only to find that Williamson had already fled to Mexico to seek help from Javier Escuella, another member of Marston’s old gang. Irish agrees to take Marston into Mexico over the river border.

Anna Paquin Weds Stephen Moyer

August 23, 2010 - 4:01 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-08-23 at 11.43.04 AMAnna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, co-stars of the hit TV series, True Blood, has gotten married over the weekend in a private residence located in Malibu, California.

The couple met on the set of their TV show, and officially went public with their relationship February of last year. They were subsequently engaged in August of that same year in Hawaii.

This is the first marriage for the actress. Anna Paquin made headlines because she was one of the youngest actresses to be ever nominated at the Oscars at age 11 for the film, The Piano, in 1993.

Stephen Moyer is a British born actor who has two kids from a previous relationship.

The wedding was a very private affair with only a few of their cast mates from the series, also present.
