Katheryn Bigelow is the King of The World

March 8, 2010 - 9:58 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-03-08 at 5.50.02 PMOscars 2010 was the battle of the exes with former husband and wife, Katheryn Bigelow and James Cameron, each vying for the Best Director plum and the Best Picture plum for their movies.

Bigelow directed the war movie, The Hurt Locker, while Cameron was the man behind the box office success, Avatar.

Insiders said Cameron had a huge chance repeating his success from last decade, when his film, Titanic, won for both director and picture awards (and where Cameron uttered the very famous King of The World line in his acceptance speech).

Last night though, the King was Bigelow, who bested her ex-husband, and eight other films, for the top honors at the 82nd Academy Awards.

Though tied at the nominations, The Hurt Locker walked away with six out of nine awards. It was a very surprising result in an otherwise very boring ceremony.

The show was hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin and although there were a couple of highlights, like Ben Stiller’s appearance dressed as a Nav’i, or that John Hughes tribute which had some of the stars of the 80’s present, this year’s event, spanning nearly four hours long, was  a total snoozefest overall.

Anyway, the complete list of winners follow after the cut —-

Scorsese & De Niro To Re-Team

February 15, 2010 - 8:21 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-02-15 at 10.35.33 AMThe team up of Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro always delivers the best projects in Hollywood. The director and actor tandem together made great films like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear and Casino, which was their last collaboration in 1995.

Now, reports are saying that the two my once again work together in a project that is centered on the world of the mobsters. This sounds very much something I would like to watch and I do hope they will proceed with this project.

Says Martin Scorsese when interviewed at the recent Berlin Film Festival — “Bob De Niro (and I) are talking about something that has to do with that world. There’s no doubt about that. We’re working on something like that, but it’s from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff.”

Scorsese has a new film out, Shutter Island, with Leonardo DiCarprio.

A Watchmen Sequel?

February 7, 2010 - 1:10 am 4 Comments

073009_watchmen

People loved the comics Watchmen, made by Alan Moore. Even then producers also made it grow to life by creating a movie. But will people be enticed to watch the sequel?

Before that happens, here’s a small summary of the movie Watchmen.

Watchmen take place on an alternate history Earth where superheroes emerged in the 1940s and 1960s, helping the United States to win the Vietnam War. The country is edging closer to a nuclear war with the Soviet Union, freelance costumed vigilantes have been outlawed and most costumed superheroes are in retirement or working for the government. The story focuses on the personal development and struggles of the protagonists as an investigation into the murder of a government sponsored superhero pulls them out of retirement.

Despite DC’s very public falling out with the irascible Moore, Dc is still thinking the unthinkable. They have been brainstorming on creating a franchise of Alan Moore’s comics, which has been disregarded for the last twenty years. A lot of arguments have been made, and head of DC seems immovable that Watchmen, at least in print form, was not to be messed with. But According to DC’s senior vice president Dan Didio, sequels, comic prequels and spin off are his visions.

Even Dave Gibbons, original Watchmen artist, who was very willing with the movie was still cynic. So with all the rumors and speculations on hand today, will there ever be a Watchmen sequel.

Oscar Nominees React

February 4, 2010 - 9:03 am No Comments

Screen shot 2010-02-04 at 8.11.35 PMI was expecting many of the stars and movies when the Oscar nominees were announced earlier. There were really no real surprises but I’m still very curious to know the reactions from the stars themselves. Here’s is what some of them said or did when they heard their names announced. This has been culled from several videos online and on television:

Gabourey Sidibe, Best Actress Nominee (Precious) — “As soon as I heard I jumped up and down and for some reason I kept screaming, ‘I’m going to get a car! I’m going to get a car!’ I don’t know why, but I did.”

Carey Mulligan, Best Actress Nominee (An Education) — This is beyond anything I’ve ever dreamed of. I’ve definitely never felt such excitement and nausea this early in the morning!

Sandra Bullock, Best Actress Nominee (The Blind Side) — “I’d always assumed that the road to Oscar was planned. I thought people chose projects that were considered ‘Oscar-worthy.’ No one wanted to make this film. I didn’t want to make this film for the better part of the year. Everyone is as blindsided — can I say that? — as I am”

Jeremy Renner, Best Actor Nominee (The Hurt Locker) — “This is more exhilarating than I could have ever imagined. What a tremendous honour from the academy – a blazing stamp in the passport of an artist that can never be taken away and will always be cherished.”

Katheryn Bigelow, Best Director Nominee (The Hurt Locker) — “If one can give the impression that the impossible is possible, then I am perhaps overwhelmed with joy. But I do hope some day we can lose the modifier and that it becomes a moot point whether the person is male or female and they’re just film-makers making statements that they believe in.”

The beautiful starlet from the Harry Potter franchise keeps getting prettier and smarter every time an article features her. Recently she opt for an Hybrid Car to reduce carbon and save Mother Earth. Today she is now Studing College in America for a brighter future. Surely this has to be Hermione. Nah, its Emma Watson who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise.

“The 19-year-old actress and face of Burberry! served as a creative advisor for People Tree and put together a collection of knitwear with cotton shirts, jersey dresses and shorts.

“I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to help alleviate poverty,” Emma said . “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion.”

The line will benefit the People Tree Foundation, supporting fair-trade farmers in developing countries, and will ship to the US starting this week!”

It’s amazing how being a celebrity made her do this things and not torture he future. Some of the teenagers today at Hollywood are doing booze, and other crazy tactics that will ruin their image. I’m very happy to hear that more people are cooperating with the environment.

Robert Pattinson as Spiderman?

January 15, 2010 - 9:49 am 1 Comment

Screen shot 2010-01-15 at 10.49.40 AM

Following the reboot of the Spiderman 4 film franchise, Entertainment Tonight has reported that Robert Pattinson may be tapped to do the role that Tobey Maguire has done for the last three installments.

Sony Pictures, however, is denying that such plans or negotiations are taking place. According to the studio, they have to find the film director first, since they also scrapped Sam Raimi, the last director for the three films, out of the project.

The film is expected to hit theaters in 2012. While that may not be for another two years, doing the movie would take at least about a year and preparations another year before that. That’s why Sony is pushing to complete the selection so that the project goes on as planned.

If Robert Pattinson is indeed one of the choices, do you think he’d fit the bill?

Russel Crowe as Robin Hood

December 27, 2009 - 1:29 pm 1 Comment

Who doesn’t know the famous prince of thieves Robin Hood? if you don’t know him, well your missing half of your life. Since I was young I became a major fan of Robin Hood because of his generosity. (but of course I don’t like the stealing part). Robin was a hero in english folklore.  He’s a highly skilled archer, marksman, swordsman and outlaw. He’s known for stealing things and giving it to the poor and he’s assisted by a group called “merrymen”.

So why am I telling you this? because the award winning actor Russel Crowe will star as the legendary figure known by generations as Robin Hood. I’m really excited to see this movie  because Russel is the perfect guy to portray this character. He’ll be acting with  the beauty Cate Blanchett (also an Oscar winner) In the movie, Russel as Robin Hood will do a lot of actions and adventures with his Merrymen. They will fight against those people who’s trying to destroy their country. Robin Hood’s goal is to show the poor people that there is hope inspite of the harsh treatment of rich men.

Russel Crowe has been very blessed because his movies made it to the top. He deserves to get a lot of awards because his acting is really superb. I’m sure Robin Hood the movie will also be a hit in the movie charts. Vanessa Redgrave, Eileen Atkins, Danny Huston, Oscar Isaac, Mark Addy, Mark Strong and William Hurt will also be in the movie.

The official release date of this movie is on MAY 2010.

Vanessa Hudgen sued moejackson.com

December 25, 2009 - 12:18 pm 3 Comments

I can’t believe Vanessa Hudgens would actually sue the owner of the site moejackson.com because they posted her nude pictures. Oh come on Vanessa! In the first place you shouldn’t have taken your pictures with no clothes at all. It’s such a shame that your fans (mostly kids) adores you so much and this is what they get from you. I know this has been on the news for quite sometime, but I wish you’d just accept that fact that people has seen your nude pic and it’s all around the internet not just in moejackson.com. I bet if you googled it you’ll see all the sites who posted it.

News:

Vanessa went to the Federal Court in Los Angeles to ask the judge to make an order so that the site would remove her nude pictures. She also had her pictures registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. This is really insane, I know Vanessa didn’t want this to happen but this is her consequence for doing such things. I heard that the reason for taking her nude pictures is because she wanted it to be a gift for her boyfriend (Zac Efron),and obviously  that was a wrong move.

I hope we all learn from this one. Be conscious of what you’re doing. Don’t blame others if you think that it was your fault in the first place. Especially if your an actress, an actor, a leader etc.you should learn to set an example to our younger generation.
