Gandolfini hailed by stars at New York funeral
Sopranos actor James Gandolfini was laid to rest Thursday in a New York funeral attended by a roster of stars and colleagues who praised him as an actor and a person.
Gandolfini, 51, died last week from a heart attack while on a working vacation in Italy.
Many of his co-stars from the hit gangster drama for which he was most famous were spotted at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York, including Edie Falco, Lorraine Bracco, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Steve Buscemi and Aida Turturro. Show creator David Chase said he always viewed the actor as a child.
”You were a good boy. … A sad boy, amazed and confused,” Chase said, according to the New York Daily News. ”You could see it in your eyes. That’s why you were a great actor.”
The funeral followed Wednesday’s private family wake in New Jersey. (dpa)
