Bong cool amid MMFF competition
Manila, Philippines – AMID the stiff competition among the entries in the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival, “Panday 2” lead star Bong Revilla, Jr. would rather focus on delivering an entertaining movie rather than fret over box-office figures.
The actor-senator deemed, though, that the 2011 MMFF will be a fierce battle between “Panday 2” and the current leader, “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” which pairs his fellow box-office king Vic Sotto with last year’s MMFF Best Actress, Ai-Ai de las Alas.
“Well ‘yung sa figures natin, pabayaan nating manggaling sa Metro Manila Film Festival [committee]. Basta ang labanan nito, it’s ‘Enteng’ and ‘Panday.’ Basta [ang] importante ngayon, happy lahat ng mga manonood… ang importante [rin] sa ’tin, maganda [ang] pelikula,” he told “Unang Hirit,” Dec. 27.
As many have predicted, “Enteng” led the early race in the MMFF box office, even making an opening day history with sales of P38.5 million, according to a report on “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Tuesday. It surpassed the record that “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” held last year at P31 million. (Bulletin Entertainment Online)
