Johnny Depp to Wear Dr. Seuss Hat?

Posted by Lira

Talks are ripe that Johnny Depp is going to wear the hat of Dr. Seuss on the big screen.

llumination Entertainment and Infinitum Nihil are said to be working on developing a live-action version of the movie about the children’s classics author and illustrator. And Depp is actually producing this.

Casting for the movie is still not being discussed, but he could easily and definitely fit the bill as his personality and presence on screen can simply bring Dr. Seuss’ character to life.

The studio notes that the film will not have a lot of CGI material to work with as this cost billions of dollars to do. However, they are not nixing the inclusion of animation altogether.

Dr. Seuss is written by Theodore Geisel who has sold more than 200 Million copies of his book worldwide and spanning decades and decades of release.

Born in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Geisel drew comic strips as a child, which were used as a form of political advertising during World War 2.

His Dr. Seuss series has become popular during the 1950′s and even today, parents still read or gift his books to their children.

The author died in 1991 due to throat cancer.

Universal and Illumination are in talks with Dr. Seuss’ estate for this movie, as they ahve already done in the past when movies like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat were released in the years 2000 and 2003 respectively.
