Take for instance the latest baby christened with a really weird name. Natalie Portman’s son has reportedly been named ALEF. Not a lot of people were pleased by it, saying it sounded a lot like ALF, which is an alien creature on television. But Alef is derived from Hebrew, of which Natalie is a descendant of, as she is partly Israeli. Alef is said to be the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and it also means “oneness with God.” Personally, I don’t think it sounds bad at all and I like that they really took to her roots to name her son.

New parents all over again, David and Victoria Beckham, has announced that their baby girl, who is the fourth child, is going to be named Harper Seven. The proud parents, who welcomed the baby early this morning, picked Seven as her middle name because David believe it brought so much luck into their lives.

Harper was born on the seventh month of the year, weighing seven pounds and at 7:55 am in Los Angeles. It was also David Beckham’s jersey number when he played for the Manchester United, which was the highlight of his career as a soccer player.

Congratulations to the new parents!
