Entertainment Weekly has released one of the first pictures of Chris Evans as Captain America.

Many superhero geeks have actually been waiting for this movie to happen. But the movie is yet to be released in the summer of 2011.

Captain America: The First Avenger is an adaptation of the Marvel Comics series. Evans was supposedly not eager to play another superhero, having been cast as one of the Fantastic Four characters in recent years. He was also aware that a lot is resting on him for this film. He says to EW in an interview, “At the time, I remember telling a buddy of mine, ‘If the movie bombs, I’m f—-ed. If the movie hits, I’m f—-ed!’”

The film version is directed by Joe Johnston and will closely examine the beginnings of Steve Rogers aka Captain America, during WWII.
