Did you see this coming? What a shining example for their daughters, huh?

After 17 years, Miley Cyrus’ parents, Billy and Tish, have gone separate ways and have filed for a divorce. In a join statement that was released on People Magazine, the ex-couple said:

“As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”

It was Billy Ray Cyrus who filed the divorce papers last Tuesday at the Chancery Court of Williamson County, Tennessee.

The divorce papers also state that they intend to share custody and control of their children, who are still minors…except for Miley who will be turning 18 this coming November.

They cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and Billy has filed for an equal division of the marital estate.

The couple has two other older kids from previous relationships.
