I have loved all of the movies under the Underworld franchise and I think that three stories is enough. I’ve been totally satisfied by it. But it seems, producers aren’t yet because a fourth installment is reportedly in the works.

The rift between the Vampires and the Lycans will once again be revived with Underworld 4 being scheduled for release in January of 2011. Shooting is set to begin in March of next year.

The filmmakers, who had picked Kate Beckinsale to star in the first two installments, wants the actress back for the fourth one. But Beckinsale have long wanted out, hoping the franchise can be passed on to someone else. She was briefly in the third installment which actually was set before her character was even bore. Kate Beckinsale played the vampire Selene in the movie.

Her husband, Les Wiseman, who also directed the first two Underworld movies, is also said to be picked to direct the fourth one. This movie is reportedly going to be about Selene and her daughter. No one has been cast for that role yet.

The very first Underworld was a stylish movie that brought Beckinsale to Hollywood stardom.
