Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has signed up and is playing the role of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the famous British band, Queen.

The Bruno star will do this drama, which is written by Peter Morgan and filming is expected to start next year. Three members of the band will oversee the music of the film. Its focus will be the few years leading up to Queen’s most awesome years.

Mercury died in 1991 of AIDS at age 45.

Queen has been responsible for many great hits like “We Will Rock You” and the classic “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

It would really be interesting to see the Mercury’s life story immortalized on film and I hope that Cohen would do justice to his legacy.
