Emma Thompson is Taking a Break from Acting For Mild Depression
Emma Thompson, the Oscar Award winning actress has stated over the weekend that she plans on taking a break from acting next year. She admits she is experiencing a mild case of depression, which is not uncommon for people in the business.
She says, “I find the job I do emotionally very demanding. I suffer from occasional mild depression, which I think is a very common thing — it’s fantastically common in my country and probably in yours, too — and it’s a very much hidden thing people don’t talk about. I think it should be discussed.”
The actress plans to be active in fundraisers as well as travel with her family during her sabbatical.
Emma Thompson has won an Oscar for Howard’s End in 1992 and another one in 1996 for Sense and Sensibility.
