Wicked To Be Adapted on Film by JJ Abrams and Ryan Murphy?
The highly successful “Wicked” production on stage is getting its film adaptation and a lot of possible directors have already expressed interest on the project. JJ Abrams, the creator of “Lost”, Ryan Murphy, the creator of “Glee”, Rob Marshall, who directed “Chicago”, and James Mangold, who directed “Walk The Line”, have all said they would be willing to do the film.
Based on a novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is a story about Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, and Glinda, the Good Witch. The musical, which opened in 2003 on Broadway had Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth as stars. Both have been Tony nominated for the play, and Menzel even won it.
There have been attempts to do this play into a film over the years and Marc Platt, who has produced the musical is said to be interested about producing the film version.
