Is Ian McKellen prepared to leave The Hobbit? He is set to play the role he originally has done in the Lord of the Rings film, Gandalf The Grey. But because The Hobbit has been taking forever to roll into production, the esteemed actor feels it’s not feasible to not pursue other projects. In an interview he said —

“Well, I’m not under contract and my time is running out and I’m enjoying working in the theater and frankly, I would like to race after doing ‘Waiting For Godot,’ get on with doing another play but we’ll have to see. I don’t want to give producers the impression that I’m sitting waiting.”

It would be ashamed if he won’t be able to play Gandalf. In my mind, and I’m pretty sure in many of the fans’ minds, he is the only one fit for the role.
