Johnny Depp is set to star in the screen adaptation of The Rum Diary, as written by Hunter S. Thompson, and earlier this week, photos on the set such as this one above have been released on the internet. The film isn’t going to be in theaters for a while, but with the release of the photos, interests should be drummed up.

The story is about an American journalist in the Eisenhower era who moves to Puerto Rico and work for the local newspaper there. He also meets a very attractive woman who is involved with a shady businessman and things go downhill from there.

The film is directed by Bruce Robinson and also stars Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart as we well as Giovanni Ribisi.
