Here’s something to really get excited about…

Sam Mendes, who is tasked to direct the next latest Bond film but is apparently delayed, will now have more of his time and talent set on directing the planned prequel to “Wizard of Oz”. This film, which will be produced by Disney, tags Robert Downey, Jr. as it star, with Mendez as first choice to sit on the director’s chair.

Downey, Jr. will of course play the role of the charlatan wizard from the Kansas traveling circus. The film will focus on the beginnings of how he came about sitting behind that curtain.

The script, which was originally titled Yellow Brick Road, and was written by Mitchell Kapner who has penned “The Whole Nine Yards”. The story is lifted and adapted from L. Frank Baum’s “Oz” books, which has about eight volumes.

This new project of course was set to trend by the recent success of “Alice In Wonderland” and there are other film studios also developing similar Oz projects, with a different storyline and flavor.
