Two Red Riding Hoods
ComingSoon.net has reported that Dear John actress, Amanda Seyfried is set to star in the adaptation of the fairy tale,The Girl With the Red Riding Hood. The film will be directed by Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke and it will be released by Warner Bros Picture, with a script written by David Leslie Johnson. The film is going to be executive produced by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio’s film outfit.
The fairy tale has so many versions in print, with the actual one actually a lot more darker that what we used to read as children. It is not yet known how dark this movie will be be. But for my money, I will bet that it will contain very contemporary elements young kids of today can relate to.
Meantime, Entertainment Weekly reports, there is another Red Riding Hood movie in production, this time starring Felicia Day of the web phenomena. But hers is a science fiction adaptation of the beloved classic and it will be shown in the small screen. Day will play an ascendant of the actual Little Red Riding Hood and he is set to meet Red’s family, a band of werewolf hunters. Red’s boyfriend gets bitten by a werewolf in the process and the conflict goes from there.
The series is set to debut in 2011.
Which production are you excited about? And why is Hollywood suddenly interested in adapting children’s fairy tales? Is this the result of Alice Wonderland? What will they do next, I wonder? Hansel and Gretel? Snow White? Cinderella?
