After an absence on the hit show Grey’s Anatomy and after months of speculation as to whether or not Katherine Heigl will return to continue doing her role as Izzy in the medical drama, the actress has confirmed she is no longer coming back to the show.

Speaking exclusively for Entertainment Tonight and now wearing her blonde hair a darker shade of black, the actress said she is “done” with doing Izzie Stevens and cites the reason for her exit is “family.”

She say, “I started a family and it changed everything for me. It changed my desire to work full-time.”" The actress has an adopted daughter with her husband. She further says, “I know I’m disappointing the fans. I just had to make a choice. I hope I made the right one.”

Izzie Stevens’ last appearance on the show was in Jan. 21 although at that time reports were saying the actress was only going on a hiatus.

Last year, it wasn’t known whether she was actually coming back to do the sixth season and her character’s storyline ended with a cliff-hanger in case they had to kill Izzie off.

I don’t actually buy Katherine Heigl’s reasons. She has this reputation for being a diva on the set and has actually been the source of conflict between the producers and the writers, stemming up from the fact that she blamed the show’s writers for not giving her good material that will earn her an Emmy nomination.

I’m actually fine with her leaving the show. What about you?
