The Hurt Locker Wins National Society of Film Critics Awards

The awards season is still rolling and The Hurt Locker, as well as its director, Kathryn Bigelow, has won the top honors from the National Society of Film Critics. The film has won three major awards: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (for Jeremy Renner). It seems as though, this film, about bomb engineers in the Iraqi war, is on a winning streak. It has already won Best Picture from other critics and award giving bodies like New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Boston Society of Film Critics and the Gotham Awards.

- Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, “Inglourious Basterds,” and Paul Schneider, “Bright Star”
- Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique, “Precious”
- Screenplay: Joel and Ethan Coen, “A Serious Man”
- Foreign-Language Film: “Summer Hours”
- Nonfiction Film: “The Beaches of Agnes”
- Cinematography: Christian Berger, “The White Ribbon”
- Production design: Nelson Lowry, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”
National Society of Film Critics include some 64 entertainment journalists from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.
