What are Avatar’s Chances at the Oscars?
Those following the movies treat the Oscar Awards as the Olympic Gold cup. But more often than not, viewers’ choices are not always the same with the choices of the jurors. The Oscar panel is notorious for loving sappy and tragic films. There hasn’t been any chances for other movie genres, even when the audience really loved a particular kind of science fiction movie, for example.
However, things may be starting to pick up…
Variety recently came out with an article about how James Cameron’s latest movie, Avatar, could be one to finally break the ever elusive Oscar place for fantasy and science films. I have not yet seen the movie, but I have closely been following critiques and reviews of it. So far, many critiques are actually favoring this one as one of this year’s best films. And it’s not just because of the awesome special effects, the movie does have a wonderful story in it, critiques say. James Cameron may have outdid himself this time and may even surpass his work in Titanic.
What do you think are Avatar’s Oscar chances? Have you already watch the film? Did you like it? The trailer supposedly didn’t do justice so it would seem to be uninteresting, but overall, it is really getting huge thumb up signs from those that have already seen it.
