Actor, Hugh Jackman, who is more familiar to the movie-going public in his role as the mutant superhero, Wolverine, has just signed on a Steven Spielberg project under Dreamworks. The said project is the robot movie called “Real Steel” , described as the futuristic Rocky.

Real Steel is based on a short story penned by Richard Matheson, with a screenplay by Dan Gilroy and John Gatins, will carry about a budget of $80 Million, which is really huge, compared to other sci-fi films like Transformers or Avatar.

Real Steel would have to be the first venture back for Dreamworks, which has been besieged with financial problems in the recent years. The movie company has, since then, secured financing after leaving Paramount’s backyard.

Real Steel is about a human boxer who is going to be replaced by robots. Hugh Jackman will play the role of the boxing promoter who finds himself a robot that allows him to always win. He is also raising an 11 year old son in the process. The movie is also about a father-son dynamics.

It’s a movie described as: a “rousing sports movie” with Jackman’s character “a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he’s good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace.”

The film is expected to begin production in June of next year.
