I just read in Variety that Broadway producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are looking into the possibility of reviving 60′s musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”  They’ll be doing a read through with a potential cast, including Broadway and West End veteran Dan Radcliffe (whom some of you may know as Harry Potter).

This will be young Dan’s first foray into musicals, and we don’t really know if he can sing.  But nobody knew if Johnny Depp could sing, either, and look how he did in Sweeney Todd.  A good actors can learn to do anything he needs to do…and I think we’ve had plenty of proof that Dan is a good actor.  Aside from leading some of the top grossing movies in history, his non-Potter performances have garnered almost universal praise.  This is especially true of his turn in London, then New York, as the troubled teen in the revival of “Equus.”

Nobody else has been cast for this read-through yet, but either the producers really want Dan (and who wouldn’t?  He packs ‘em in to theaters and movies alike), or Dan really wants this role.  I think Dan just likes to stretch his wings and challenge himself…a really really good career move.  And it seems to be working for him.
