Variety is reporting that the Weinstein brothers, owners of Miramax Studios, have picked up the rights to a movie called A Single Man, which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this week.

A Single Man stars Colin Firth, my secret husband, as a gay British college professor in the 60’s.    The movie centers around Colin’s character struggling to cope with the death of his partner.  I love Colin in comedy, like Bridget Jones and Mamma Mia, but I most especially like it when he is allowed to show his dramatic chops.

There are some other films showing at Toronto, starring some other actors who are not as cool as Colin Firth.  Some of these actors and movies are Demi Moore and David Duchhovny in The Joneses, Robert Duvall in Get Low, Michael Douglas in Solitary Man (very different from A Single Man, which, did I mention, stars Colin Firth, my boyfriend), Tilda Swinson in I Am Love, Helen Mirren in The Last Station, and Michael Caine in Harry Brown.

So, getting back to Colin, he’s getting all sorts of critical acclaim for his performance in this movie.  I’m glad, because he’s often overlooked by the critics, but he’s a truly skilled and accomplished actor.
