Our fascination with celebrities not only extends to the kind of projects they do, the juicy tidbits of their personal life, the fabulous lifestyle they lead or the designer things they own. We’re also fascinated with the sprawling mansions they occupy. Just getting a glimpse of where they live through many celebrity home photos in magazines or online, is enough to make us feel that we’ve known our favorite stars up close and more personal. Sometimes we look to these houses for inspirations, too.

And boy, those celebrity houses…they are extravagant and incredible, aren’t they? Some are actually out of this world. But because these celebrities have the money, the lifestyle and the influence to build one, they can do whatever they want with their dream homes.

They can have their own volleyball and tennis court, like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett’s house in Malibu. They can have special rooms for Pizza Night, like George Clooney’s. Or live in a house made of expensive materials like Halle Berry’s. Or own a house with ten bathrooms like Denzel Washington (Who needs ten bathrooms? The Washington household, apparently!) Dame Helen Mirren even has her own flagpole, would you believe that? And Julia Roberts’ house is very eco-friendly. Do you know how much a “green house” cost to build? Plenty of money!

The thing with owning a celebrity home is that these stars can make everything look really attractive and unique that people actually would want what they have.

That’s not to say we regular folks can’t do the same and have a uniquely beautiful house of our own. But hey, some celebrities also live in understated houses, like Renee Zellwegger’s farmhouse in East Hampton which looks more traditional and normal than most. Mira Sorvino lives in a 1975 house that still retains its former glory. And Winona Ryder still sometimes stays with her parents in LA in their three-bedroom house.

What makes these houses stand out, however, is that little touch of here and there.
