Posh Spice Closer to Replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol

After Paula Abdul announced she was leaving American Idol after eight seasons the other work, producers of the show have been scrambling to find her replacement, especially since auditions are already underway. As it is, they’ve been feeding off guest judges for now, filling in the spot Abdul left.
Victoria Beckham, the former Spice Girl known as Posh Spice, was present as guest judge in one of the audition spots. Other guest judges viewers should be seeing when the show is back in January 2010 include Mary J. Blithe and Kate Perry. But Posh Spice, so far, has been only the guest judge asked to return, reports say. And then on her return, the singer, fashionista and tabloid magnet, has supposedly landed a $5Million contract deal, sealing the third judge spot. Although producers are still saying she isn’t the actual replacement of Paula Abdul.
Yet.
Their hesitation? Posh Spice’s personal appearance may not be too warmly accepted by the American viewing public. She’s just way too skinny, reports say. She also has a thicker accent compared to the other British judge already in the panel, Simon Cowell. Producers are afraid she may alienate viewers.
But the tabloid princess that she is, it cannot be denied plenty of people are fascinated by her, in a good and bad way…which is probably why it’s a good idea to have her on the show. She can pull the curious viewers.
Victoria Beckham has had a good working relationship with Simon Fuller, the show’s creator. He was their manager when the Spice Girls was still intact and popular.
