Mindy Kaling, who works on the award-winning NBC sitcom The Office, has been given a new project by NBC and Universal Media Studios.  If you follow The Office, you’ll know Kaling as the once-drab-now-bubbly Kelly Kapoor, the flirtatious customer service rep for Dunder Mifflin Paper.

But Kaling is more than one of the lead actresses on the successful show.  She is also one of its main writers and producers.  She’s done so well with this project that NBC wants to mine her talents for the future.  She’ll also play the starring role in the new, as-yet-unnamed series.  Those of us who’ve enjoyed her performances on The Office, as well as in her roles in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Unaccompanied Minor, Licensed to Wed, and Curb Your Enthusiasm will be thrilled to know she’s getting such a juicy comedy vehicle to showcase her talents.
