Susan Boyle’s Performance

I’ve been hearing about this for a couple of days, but never bothered to watch the video until today. (it can’t be embedded here, so you’ll have to go to the link)
Susan Boyle is a frumpy little middle-aged Sottish woman who went on Britain’s Got Talent. She began by cracking some silly jokes and acting fairly dorky, making the audience collectively roll their eyes at her.
Then she started singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. The audience shut up–and fast. Two lines into the song, the cheers began, the audience was on their feet. The judges were moved to tears–even notorioulsy mean Simon Cowell was entranced (seriously, I’ve never seen a face so open and awed as Simon’s was during this performance).
Susan Boyle really showed them. 47 isn’t too old to have a dream, if you’ve got the heart and skill to back it up. She does, and then some.
Susan, I don’t know you, but I loved watching and listening to you sing. Most of all, I loved watching you win their respect. You deserve it.
