Phil Spector Convicted This Time

Posted by kathy

Last time Phil Spector was tried for the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson, in 2007, the judge had to declare a mistrial, because the jury could not reach a unamimous decision (it deadlocked at 10-2 in favor of conviction).

Clarkson was out of acting work and had been working as a hostess at the House of Blues in Hollywood, when she accepted Spector’s invitation to return to his home for a drink.  She was dead a few hours later, but a jury had previously been unable to decide whether the cause of her death–a gun had been placed in her mouth and fired–was due to homicide by Spector or suicide.

For those of us who had never heard of Phil Spector before he went on trial for this crime the first time, he was apparently some hot-shot record producer back in the day…a long, long ago day.  Like in the 60′s.  Dude is now 69 and has just been sentenced to at least 18 years in prison.
