Fanning Offered Role in New Moon…
…but has yet to accept. Yahoo! is reporting it this morning. It’s been rumored for a while now, but according to this article, New Moon director Chris Weitz wants Fanning so much he’s offered her the role without even making her audition for it.
I had no idea Dakota Fanning ever had to audition for anything anymore. Doesn’t there come a point where a working actor is past that, even if she’s 14?
I would love to see Fanning play Jane. If you haven’t read New Moon, Jane is a young, pretty, sweet-looking vampire whose special gift is torturing people telepathically. Can’t you just see Fanning’s adorable face smiling cherubically while Rob Pattinson’s Edward writhes in agony at her feet? I am so there.
I’m more excited by the thought of Fanning playing Jane than I am about Vanessa Hudgens playing Leah…though I’ll reserve judgment on that one until I know more. Another fave for the role of Leah is Q’orianka Kilcher, who looks the part more, but I don’t know how well she acts.

is Dakota Fanning old enough to show up in Twilight as a teenager?

She’s 14, but the role she’s up for isn’t exactly teenagerish–in fact, she’s several hundred years old. She’s a vampire hit-woman whose special gift is torture; she looks sweet and innocent until she unleashes her gift on you. It should be awesome!
